A walking tour through the streets and paths of Chora, leading up to the famous Church of Panagia overlooking the village.

This experience is designed for small groups of 2 to 10 participants, offering a more personal and engaging way to discover Folegandros. Please note that a minimum of 2 participants is required for the tour to operate.

The tour begins at Pounta Square in Chora.

Along the way, I share the history of Folegandros from medieval times through to the 21st century, bringing to life the island’s unique cultural heritage and traditions.

We stroll at a comfortable pace through the picturesque alleys of Chora, stopping for photographs and viewpoints before visiting the medieval settlement of Castro, one of the oldest continuously inhabited villages in the Cyclades.

I provide insights into Cycladic culture, the history of the island, pirate raids, daily life within the castle walls, and the evolution of Folegandros through the centuries.

We then follow the serpentine path to the remarkable Church of Panagia, one of the island’s most iconic landmarks, where visitors can enjoy breathtaking views over the Aegean Sea.

The tour also includes a visit to an impressive monument dating back to the 4th century BC, followed by a walk along the historic Kalderimi, where we discuss the architectural changes and social transformations brought about by modern tourism.

I am a university-educated cultural historian whose family has deep roots in Folegandros. My grandfather operated one of the island’s traditional windmills, and today I continue my connection to the island by operating two small guest houses and sharing its stories with visitors from around the world.

I look forward to welcoming you and sharing the history, culture, and hidden secrets of my beloved island.
