In 1871, a small group of Finnish missionaries established Olukonda, the most enduring mission station in Ovamboland. They created the first written Oshiwambo language. They built hospitals. They established schools. Their legacy lives in northern Namibia to this day. This 3-day heritage trail visits every site: Omandongo (where the missionary group divided), the abandoned stations at Elim and Okahao, the extraordinary Nakambale Museum at Olukonda, the historic Onandjokwe Medical Museum and several mission sites in Oniipa. This journey takes you into the footsteps that were left more that 150 years ago. They had to do it over several days by wagons, we get to do over 3 days.
