We find animal tracks in the snow and look for dry material to kindle our fire. With a little luck we can see the Northern lights, dancing in the sky above.
First we drive over frozen lakes and swamps to find our cozy fireplace in the woods and wait for the Northern lights. With our snowshoes we can experience walking in the deep snow without sinking too deep. This way we can freely roam in the untouched snow. After learning how to start the fire we have real hot chocolate, coffee and Swedish sweets. We share our knowledge about the Aurora, the local wildlife and culture before we start our second ride on the sled, hopefully with more Aurora over our heads.
This experience is tailored for those seeking an active journey into the heart of the Arctic landscape. Enjoy the nature surrounding you at night whilst chatting with our guides or in quiet reflection.
While you hike and drive through the serene arctic night you will get a full polar night experience until April comes with its long and bright days. Bring your camera for an opportunity for some once in a lifetime photos. It is advised to check aurora forecasts, such as Aurora Reach to check the possibility.
If we are not lucky with the Northern light we still have plenty to do. During your exploration, you’ll hike across a lake and a peaceful forest, all while keeping an eye out for the local wildlife! With some luck, you might spot reindeer, moose, Arctic hares, or even “Ripa,” Kiruna’s official bird. Surely, we will find and identify their tracks in the snow.
Our package includes transfers to and from Kiruna Town, along with the essential winter gear, such as winter overalls, boots & snowshoes, mittens, and hats. The adventure concludes with a delightful Fika session around an open fire and we will take you back to your pickup location, with new memories and of course, photos.
We recommend dressing warmly with a balaclava or scarf and layering up for comfort. For those with glasses, consider contact lenses.
