Nördlingen is a former Free Imperial City on the “Romantic Road”. This walled city has a peculiarity: its circular wall is the centre of a meteorite impact crater. Known as the Nördlinger Ries, the impact happened 15 million years ago, leaving a 25 km diameter wide crater and about 72 thousand tons of micro-diamonds scattered around the region. The town was the location of the battles during the Thirty Years' War. Admire the major attraction of the city - St. George's Church also known as “Daniel”. Discover the notable buildings of the town hall, which dates back to the 13th century.
