Begin the trip with a boat ride on the Nam Ou River. The first stop is the Lao village of Ban Hoihoy, where you can walk among the huts and see countless chickens, ducks and local children before returning to the boat for a short ride.
The trek then begins with a one-and-a-half-hour walk along a wide country road surrounded by majestic limestone mountains and lush rice terraces. Enjoy lunch prepared by local people in the scenic village of Ban Phayong.
After lunch, walk around the village and observe the differences between the two tribes, Hmong and Khmu, living together. Continue with another one-and-a-half hours of trekking through rice fields, cross pristine streams and find shelter from the sun in the shade of the green forest.
Just before you might feel tired, reach the river and meet the boat for the return journey. Along the way, watch the peaceful river teeming with life, with local people fishing, children running around on the sand and buffaloes sunbathing or swimming in the water.
Arrive shortly before sunset and capture a romantic photo. Overall, this is an easy, enjoyable and relaxed trek suitable for all ages and fitness conditions.
