Besides its extensive grotto collection, Trang An also home a system of cultural and ritual monuments like Vu Lam Temple, Suoi Tien Temple or Cao Son Temple.

Starting from the departure port, locals will row you through some of the highlighted grottoes of the complex, stopping by its historical temples along the way.

Mua Caves

Mua Cave is a famous tourist attraction located in the core of the Trang An Landscape Complex. Although it is called “a cave,” the main reason that draws travelers to Mua Cave is the two famous and beautiful natural viewpoints on the top of Mua Mountain. To reach these viewpoints, you need to climb 486 steps on the “Great Wall” path—a stone staircase with dragons carved alongside. But the journey will be well worth it. Two famous peaks, respectively named Ngoa Long (Dragon) Peak and Stupa Peak, offer different panoramic views of the Ngo Dong River and Tam Coc area.

Hoa Lu District

Located up to the north of Ninh Binh city, Hoa Lu was the capital of Vietnam during the 11th century. Despite being the heart of the country for only 42 years, the area was still home to 3 dynasties: Dinh (968–980), Pre-Le (980–1009), and Early Ly (1009–1010). In 1010, King Ly Thai To decided to move his capital to Thang Long (now Ha Noi), and Hoa Lu officially became the ancient capital of Vietnam with many preserved historic temples and relic locations. Having undergone the Vietnam War as well as multiple renovations over the centuries, the Ancient Capital of Hoa Lu now remains with only two famous temples, dedicated to King Dinh and King Le. Visiting the Ancient Capital of Hoa Lu not only broadens your knowledge of Vietnam history, but also gives you a chance to participate in the famous Truong Yen Festival.
