What you can expect

  • Nikko Toshogu Shrine: A Golden Masterpiece
“Never say 'magnificent' until you've seen Nikko.” Experience the truth behind this famous Japanese proverb at this UNESCO World Heritage site. As the final resting place of Tokugawa Ieyasu, the founder of the Tokugawa Shogunate, the shrine boasts incredible architectural detail. Marvel at the intricate carvings, lavish gold leaf decorations, and the world-famous “Three Wise Monkeys” that adorn this masterpiece.

Irohazaka Winding Road: The Scenic Ascent
Enjoy a thrilling drive up the Irohazaka Winding Road, famous for its 48 hair-pin turns. This scenic route offers a dynamic panoramic view of the changing seasons—from the fresh greenery of spring to the fiery hues of autumn—as you ascend toward the mountainous Okunikko region.

    Kegon Falls: Nature’s Thunderous Beauty
Witness the most famous of Nikko’s 48 waterfalls. Watch in awe as the water from Lake Chuzenji plunges 97 meters straight down a sheer cliff. Whether it’s the refreshing mist of summer or the frozen artistic columns of winter, the falls offer a powerful spectacle of nature’s raw energy and artistic beauty.

Lake Chuzenji: Serenity at High Altitude
Explore Tochigi’s largest lake, nestled at the foot of Mount Nantai. Once a popular summer retreat for international diplomats in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the lake offers a peaceful atmosphere. Enjoy a stroll along the shore to take in the serene mountain views and the historic charm of the former embassy villas.
