What you can expect

Begin your journey at Meitetsu Owari-Seto Station, a 40-minute train ride from Nagoya, we will transport you by private vehicle to the historic studio in Seto City.

At the workshop, a skilled potter will provide direct instruction. Choose between an electric pottery wheel experience, where you’ll create everyday tableware like bowls or tea cups, or a hand-building experience, where you can enjoy creating more freely shaped pieces at your own pace.

From the 4 pieces you create, we will fire and mail 2 of the best-made pieces to you.

Your creation will undergo the subsequent processes of bisque firing and glaze firing to be completed. This typically takes 1-2 months. The finished piece will be shipped to your home via an international shipping service arranged in advance through your guide (international shipping fees are additional). Your one-of-a-kind Seto ware, crafted by your own hands, will be the ultimate travel souvenir.

Next, transfer by private car to the long-established Seto ware retailer. Browse a wide range of Seto ware, from traditional art crafts passed down through generations to modern tableware designs suited for contemporary dining, and even affordable souvenirs. If timing allows, you might even witness artisans painting pieces.

Enjoy approximately 45 minutes of free time to choose souvenirs for yourself or gifts for loved ones from the diverse collection of vessels, featuring Seto ware's uniquely beautiful glazes and the warmth of the clay.
