What you can expect
Meet your guide at Nagoya Station, one of Japan’s major transportation hubs, and begin your journey through the city. From there, travel by public transportation to the Nagoya Castle area, where you will explore one of the city’s most iconic landmarks.
Nagoya Castle is closely connected to Tokugawa Ieyasu and the powerful Owari Tokugawa family. As you walk through the castle grounds, your guide will explain the history of the castle, the meaning of the golden shachihoko ornaments on the roof, and why Nagoya became such an important city during the Edo period. Depending on the route and opening conditions, you may also visit or view the beautiful Honmaru Palace area, known for its elegant architecture and richly decorated interiors.
After exploring the castle area, enjoy a walk through Kinshachi Yokocho, a lively dining and shopping street near Nagoya Castle. This area is a great place to experience Nagoya’s local food culture and traditional atmosphere. Your guide can introduce famous Nagoya specialties such as miso katsu, hitsumabushi, tebasaki chicken wings, kishimen noodles, and local sweets. Food and drinks are not included, but you are welcome to stop for a snack or drink if time allows.
Next, continue toward the Sakae and Hisaya-odori area, the modern heart of Nagoya. Stroll through Hisaya-odori Park and see the Chubu Electric Power MIRAI TOWER, one of Nagoya’s most recognizable city landmarks. This area offers a different side of Nagoya, with open public spaces, modern architecture, cafés, shops, and great photo spots.
Because this is a private tour, the pace can be adjusted to your interests. Whether you want to focus on samurai history, local food, architecture, photography, or simply enjoy a comfortable introduction to the city, your guide will help create a relaxed and enjoyable experience.
By the end of the tour, you will have experienced both the historical and modern sides of Nagoya, from the golden symbols of Nagoya Castle to the lively streets and city views around Sakae.
