What you can expect
Our tour kicks off at the Brussels Palace of Justice, where a panoramic view welcomes us as we explore how music has accompanied the city's evolution. With evocative melodies, we'll immerse ourselves in the history of Brussels and its relationship with music.
We'll head down to the Place du Petit Sablon, the former site of Count Egmont's palace, near the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, the birthplace of great artists and the epicenter of musical education in Belgium.
The tour continues to the Museum of Musical Instruments, where you'll explore sounds from around the world and discover the history of the saxophone, invented by the Belgian Adolphe Sax.
We'll also relive the importance of music in independence movements, listening to pieces that have been anthems of change and resistance. We'll listen to the influence of African music in Brussels from the famous viewpoint of the Mount of Arts, now the area of the city's most important painting museums.
We continue with a tribute directly at the foundation of Jacques Brel, a renowned Brussels artist who left his mark on the genre (Chanson). His music remains a symbol of deep emotional expression and Belgian identity.
Then we head to the most irreverent statue that has inspired songs and festivals over the centuries, the Manneken Pis.
Once in the Grand Place, the vibrant heart of the city, we'll discover its connection with major festivals and concerts. This space, recognized as a World Heritage Site, has been the scene of musical events that have brought the city to life for centuries, such as the Ommegang, a cultural heritage festival by UNESCO.
The tour takes us to a symbol of Brussels' social and cultural evolution. In the past, it was a meeting point for musical events, reflecting the close relationship between music and the city's transformation over centuries of existence.
Finally, we arrive at the birthplace of Belgian opera. In its imposing architecture, we relive fragments of the most famous operas and close the tour with an unforgettable sound experience, and we'll understand why music is freedom.
Throughout the tour, each stop is accompanied by a special musical curation, fascinating stories, and the opportunity to experience the city through its sounds and history. MUSA - Music and Art invites you to discover Brussels like never before, on a journey where music and culture come together to create a unique experience. Let yourself be carried away by the rhythm of the city and experience its magic with us!
