As Goethe once proclaimed: “Regensburg is beautifully situated. The area had to attract a city…”. Four rivers unite: a perfect trading hub – the Danube a massive protection to the north. Findings dating back to the Stone Age show the attractiveness of the region. The first historical records date back to 79 AD, when the Romans built a cohort camp for 1,500 men in what is now Kumpfmühl. The camp fell in the Marcomannic Wars in the 160s.

STONE BRIDGE - A Wonder of the World.
WURSTKUCHL - The famous “Historic Sausage Kitchen” is the oldest sausage kitchen in the world.
GOLDEN TOWER - The highest „house“ tower in the World Heritage City Regensburg.
GOLIATH HOUSE - The Goliath House with its painting of the fight between David and Goliath, is one of Regensburg’s landmarks.
THURN AND TAXIS PALACE - This magnificent palace emerged from the buildings of the former Benedictine monastery of St. Emmeram
JAKOBSTOR - The Jakobstor was one of the four Gothic entrance gates of the 14th century city fortifications.
SALZSTADEL - The Salt Warehouse, built from 1616 to 1620, stands in the immediate vicinity of the Stone Bridge and houses the World Heritage Visitor Centre.
OLD TOWN HALL - From 1663 to 1806 the Perpetual Imperial Assembly met in the Imperial Chamber.
NEUE WAAG - This building from the 14th century at the Haiplatz housed the municipal scales from 1441 on.
DOM ST. PETER - One of the most important Gothic cathedrals in Germany, sculpture „Judensau“.
HOUSE OF OSCAR SCHINDLER - Oskar Schindler lived in Regensburg for years, and today one of his houses bears a plaque to his achievements.
