Munduk Balinese Cooking Class with Lunch/Dinner at a Local House
Step into the heart of Bali’s culinary traditions with an authentic cooking class in Munduk, held at a warm and welcoming local family home. This is more than just a cooking lesson—it is a cultural journey where you discover the flavors, aromas, and secrets of Balinese food while experiencing the everyday life of the Balinese people.
One of our team will guide you through a hands-on cooking session, introducing you to traditional recipes that have been passed down for generations. The menu highlights Bali’s signature dish Nasi Campur—a colorful and flavorful plate that combines several small dishes into one meal, representing the richness of Balinese cuisine. During the class, you will prepare and cook a variety of dishes such as:
• Sate Lilit – skewered minced fish or chicken mixed with fresh herbs and grated coconut, wrapped around bamboo sticks, and grilled to perfection.
• Bergedel – golden-fried potato patties with a soft, savory interior.
• Balinese Vegetable Stir-Fry – a healthy combination of seasonal vegetables cooked with aromatic spices.
• Balinese Soup (jukut jepang) – a light and comforting soup made with chayote (jepang) local herbs and spices.
• Balinese Spice Paste (Base Genep) – the soul of Balinese cooking, carefully prepared using fresh ingredients like turmeric, ginger, galangal, shallots, garlic, lemongrass, and chili.
All dishes are thoughtfully adjusted to suit international palates, ensuring the food is flavorful yet not overwhelmingly spicy. Importantly, our cooking uses no MSG—only fresh and natural ingredients sourced from the local markets.
We understand that every traveler is unique, and dietary needs are carefully respected. The cooking class offers flexible options for guests with allergies or restrictions, including alternatives for those who cannot consume meat, wheat, flour, peanuts, or eggs. Vegetarian and vegan menus are also available on request.
Once the cooking is done, sit down together with your hosts and fellow participants to enjoy the delicious meal you’ve created. Depending on your booking, you can savor it as a hearty lunch or dinner, served in a relaxed and authentic Balinese setting. Sharing food with a local family in their home makes this experience not only about cooking, but also about connection, culture, and community.
This immersive activity is perfect for anyone who wants to explore Bali beyond its landscapes—through its food, traditions, and hospitality. Whether you’re a passionate foodie, a curious traveler, or simply looking for a unique experience in Munduk, this cooking class will leave you with new skills, warm memories, and a deeper appreciation for Balinese culture.
