  • The indigo dye used in this workshop is very strong. If it gets on your clothing, it may not come off even after washing. Please make sure to wear the protective apron or clothing provided by the facility.
  • Please understand that we cannot take responsibility for any stains or damage to your personal belongings such as clothes, shoes, bags, or accessories during the workshop.
  • If you have an allergy to indigo or related ingredients, please inform us in advance.

  • As irons and dryers involve high heat, there is a risk of burns. Please follow the instructions of the staff carefully.
  • If you feel uncomfortable handling these tools, our staff or guide can assist or perform the step for you — just let us know.
  • This tour is not recommended for individuals with mobility issues since we do workshop in a small facility.
  • Out of respect for all guests and to ensure the best experience for everyone, the tour will start on time.

Learn about the indigo blue known as “JAPAN BLUE” from a local guide and create your own original Mount Fuji hanging scroll. Experience traditional Japanese indigo dyeing with an instructor. Choose your favorite from four different shibori dyeing techniques to create your indigo piece. After dyeing your tenugui hand towel with indigo, select a Japanese ukiyo-e Mount Fuji design or a popular motif. Apply silk-screen printing to complete your one-of-a-kind hanging scroll! Design combinations are limitless! Create a Japanese souvenir you can only make here. Local guides provide interpretation and assistance throughout the experience, so you can participate with confidence even if you don't speak Japanese.
