The event takes place on an elevated outdoor stage by the shore of Lake Yamanaka. This is the only place in Japan where you can watch authentic sumo rituals and thrilling matches with an unobstructed view of the country’s most sacred mountain.
Professional sumo wrestlers perform traditional pre‑match ceremonies, followed by exciting bouts that showcase the power, strategy, and spirit of sumo. Live English commentary explains the history and symbolism behind each ritual, making the experience accessible and engaging for all visitors.
A select number of guests will be invited to step into the sacred sumo ring (dohyō) and take part in a sumo challenge – a rare opportunity to safely test your strength against a real sumo wrestler in an interactive experience.
