Leave the city behind and spend the day walking one of Yamanashi’s most scenic mountain ridges.

Begin at Kamihikawa Pass, already located at approximately 1,600 meters above sea level. Follow a forest trail toward Fukuchanso before continuing to Daibosatsu Pass, once an important mountain crossing between the Tokyo and Yamanashi regions.

From the pass, step onto the most scenic section of the hike. Walk across an open ridge toward Sai-no-Kawara and Kaminari-iwa, with wide mountain views and space to stop for photographs and a packed lunch. On clear days, Mount Fuji rises beyond Lake Daibosatsu, while the peaks of the Southern Alps stretch across the horizon.

From Kaminari-iwa, enter a quiet forest and walk to the 2,057-meter summit of Mount Daibosatsu. Return to the viewpoint before descending through the Karamatsu Ridge and completing the loop at Kamihikawa Pass.

The route covers approximately 7.2 kilometers with around 500 meters of elevation gain. It is suitable for active beginners and regular hikers who can walk for up to five hours on uneven mountain terrain.
