Overview

After Reservation, the tour starts at the rental point with the collection of e-bikes and the activation of virtual navigation, which accompanies along the way.

The loop route measures about 32.2 km and has 597 m of positive altitude difference: medium level. It starts from Montepulciano and crosses some of the most recognizable landscapes of the Val d’Orcia, alternating paved roads, short stretches on a state road, paths and quiet side roads.

The route passes near the Temple of San Biagio and continues through vineyards, olive groves, cultivated hills and panoramic points. The famous rows of cypress trees accompany the ride to Monticchiello, where you can stop for a break in the village or at the Osteria La Porta.

The return to Montepulciano follows hilly roads with new views of the Tuscan countryside, completing an experience that combines landscape, culture and local flavors. Particular caution is required in sections shared with traffic.

Activity itinerary

Montepulciano (Pass by)

Montepulciano is a medieval hill town in Tuscany, Italy. Surrounded by vineyards, it is known for its red wine, Vino Nobile. The Tower of Pulcinella is a clock tower surmounted by the figure of Pulcinella, a character in the commedia dell'arte. In Piazza Grande is the 14th-century Palazzo Comunale, with a tower offering panoramic views of the surrounding countryside

Monticchiello (Pass by)

Monticchiello, a hamlet of Pienza, is a charming medieval village overlooking the Val d’Orcia. Its origins date back to the Middle Ages, when it was fortified to control the roads between Siena and Montepulciano. Still today it preserves stone walls, towers and alleys, as well as the church of Saints Leonardo and Cristoforo. The village is also known for its Teatro Povero, born from the tradition of the local community.

Tempio di San Biagio

  • 10m
The Temple of San Biagio, just outside Montepulciano, is one of the masterpieces of the Tuscan Renaissance. Built between 1518 and 1545 to a design by Antonio da Sangallo the Elder, it has a Greek cross plan and an elegant travertine facade. Nestled among cypresses and hills, it was built on the site of an ancient parish church and still retains a solemn and harmonious atmosphere.
