You will be picked up at 7 am to Gede Ruins- Start your day with a guided tour of the Gede Ruins, the remains of a mysterious 12th-century Swahili town nestled within a primeval forest. Explore the excavated mosques, palace, and houses made of coral stone and learn about the town's history and sudden abandonment from a local guide. You may spot monkeys and various bird species here.
11:00 AM - 12:00 PM: Visit the Kipepeo Butterfly Project located at the Gede entrance to learn about the local butterfly farming initiative.
12:00 PM - 1:00 PM: Have lunch (at own cost) at a local restaurant in Malindi, which offers a relaxed setting with views of the mangroves.
1:00 PM - 3:00 PM: Discover Historical Malindi- Head into Malindi town to explore its rich history.
Vasco da Gama Pillar : Visit this iconic historical monument, one of the oldest European-built monuments in Africa, placed by the explorer in 1498.
Portuguese Chapel of St. Francis Xavier: Located next to the pillar, this is one of the oldest East African churches still standing.
Explore the Town- Walk through the narrow alleys of the Malindi Old Town to see the centuries-old houses and experience the daily local culture, stopping by the Malindi market for souvenirs.
If time permits, visit the Falconry of Kenya to see various birds of prey.
4:00 PM onwards: Depart for your hotel. The tour offers a great insight into the culture and history of the Swahili Coast
