We depart from the Ecoterra Nicaragua office or from your hotel if it's one of the hotels that offers our free pick-up service. During the drive to the reserve, we'll enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of the majestic Mombacho Volcano. Upon entering the reserve, you'll immediately notice the change in climate, as we'll be 850 meters above sea level. Along our route, we'll encounter a vast array of flora, including orchids (such as the endemic Maxillaria mombachoensis), ferns, mosses, and epiphytes.

The vegetation ranges from dry tropical forest at the base to evergreen rainforest at the summit. If we're lucky, we might also spot a variety of animal species, such as howler monkeys, two-toed sloths, and a wide array of colorful butterflies. Furthermore, it's home to the endemic Mombacho Salamander, iguanas, and diverse birdlife, making it a key biodiversity hotspot in Nicaragua. At the end of our hike, just as we ascended, special transport awaits us to return to the base of the volcano where our tour ends and head towards the city of Granada to your hotel.
