We'll take you to really get to know what the Chapultepec Forest is. We'll start with a half-hour visit to the Museum of Modern Art, where we'll visit one of the rooms. We'll continue to Chapultepec Castle, where we'll have 45 to 60 minutes.
We'll then head to the Audiorama. In pre-Hispanic times, this spot was home to the spectacular Cincalco cavern (cave of the place of corn) that led to Mictlán, which the Mexicas considered a portal between the world of the living and the dead. They also believed that Tlaloc, the god of water, lived on this hill. According to indigenous sources, Huémac, the last Toltec ruler, took his own life in the cave in 1162, after suffering the decline and ruin of the Toltec people firsthand. It's considered an element that “protects and energizes visitors.”
Our next stop is Los Pinos, where the former presidents of Mexico lived. In 2018, it opened to the public and became the Los Pinos Cultural Complex. Inside Los Pinos, we'll take a short break at one of the city's best cafés, Café Passmar, a hidden treasure in Chapultepec.
We'll continue to the second section of the Bosque de Chapultepec, where we'll visit the Museo del Cárcamo de Dolores.
After this, we'll head back to our original starting point.
