Meet your guide and set off on a gentle stroll through the village. Walk along Melbu's main street and learn about the community and its maritime heritage before passing through the beautiful gardens of Melbu Hovedgård, the Manor House, one of the village's most historic landmarks.
From there, continue to the entrance of Melbu Marka, the gateway to Hadseløya's extensive network of walking trails. Follow a well-marked path and begin a gentle ascent toward Haugnyken, a local favorite viewpoint overlooking the village and surrounding landscapes.
Although the trail is rocky in places, it is easy to follow and moderately steep, making it accessible to most walkers with a reasonable level of fitness. The pace will always be adapted to the group, allowing time to stop, rest, take photographs, and enjoy the surroundings.
The hike to the summit takes approximately 40–50 minutes. At the top, be rewarded with stunning panoramic views of Melbu, the surrounding islands, and the majestic ridgelines of the famous Lofoten Wall stretching across the horizon.
Throughout the walk, listen to fascinating insights into local culture, history, and everyday life on Hadseløya from your guide, Mathia, an Italian who moved to Northern Norway many years ago and has since made Melbu his home away from home.
