Overview

  • This is a private tour, so it's just you and your own local guide. We live and work in Pals, design our own routes and maintain our own fleet of e-bikes in our workshop.

    The route links four medieval villages of the Baix Empordà – Pals, Fontclara, Palau-sator and Peratallada – along quiet farm tracks and country lanes, away from main roads and tour buses. The e-bikes take care of the small hills, so you don't need to be a regular cyclist.

    Because the tour is private, we adapt the pace, the stops and the starting time to your group. It works well for couples, families and friends who want to see the villages of the Empordà with someone who knows them well.

Activity itinerary

Pals

  • 45m
We leave our shop in Pals and ride out through the rice fields, one of the few places in Catalonia where rice is still grown. The paths here are flat and quiet, a good way to get comfortable on the e-bike while your guide explains how this farming landscape was shaped.

Fontclara

  • 15m
A short stop in Fontclara, a tiny hamlet surrounded by olive groves that most visitors never see. We'll stop by its Romanesque church of Sant Pau and take a breather in one of the quietest corners of the Empordà.

Palau-Sator

  • 30m
We enter Palau-sator through its old gate tower and walk its walled centre. Your guide will tell you how these farming villages defended themselves in the Middle Ages and how people lived here.

Peratallada

  • 30m
The highlight of the route. We park the bikes and explore Peratallada on foot: the moat carved into the rock, the castle and the narrow stone streets. There's time for photos and, if you like, a coffee in the main square (at your own expense).

Pals

  • 45m
We ride back to Pals and climb up to its Gothic quarter, with the Romanesque Torre de les Hores and views over the Empordà plain towards the Medes Islands. The tour ends back at our shop.
