What you can expect

Discover Comuna 13 on a comprehensive, approximately 4-hour tour that combines public transportation, history, culture, and local cuisine. The tour begins at a Medellin Metro station (the most convenient station will be confirmed based on the group's location). From there, you will take the Metrocable to enjoy a panoramic view of the city and see part of its urban transformation from above.

We will then travel by bus to the tourist area of Comuna 13, where we will begin our walking tour through its streets, which are filled with color and street art. During the walk, you will learn about the neighborhood's historical context and its past marked by conflict and war, as well as how its transformation through art, music, and community projects has made it a symbol of resilience.

You will explore iconic murals and graffiti while learning about the meaning behind each work and the history they represent. In addition, you will experience one of the most special moments of the tour with a live freestyle rap performance, where local artists use improvisation to convey the cultural essence and energy of hip-hop that today define the identity and transformation of the sector.

During the tour, you will attend a dance show performance, where you will actively participate in the entertainment and activities (participation is optional) with dancers from the sector.

During the experience, you will pause to enjoy a tasting of typical Colombian food, supporting local entrepreneurs and connecting with traditional flavors such as a delicious empanada paisa or a stuffed buñuelo. You will also be offered a beverage (beer, water, soft drink) or a fruit popsicle of your choice; the unique flavor of Comuna 13 is Maracu-mango, which combines mango and passion fruit.

As part of the tour, you will also enjoy an introduction to the world of Colombian emeralds, where experts will share the origins, cultural significance, and value of one of Colombia's most iconic gems, adding a unique dimension to the tour experience.

At the end of the tour, after enjoying a view of the entire area from a lookout point, you and the group will return to the metro station where the tour started, so that you can continue your day with complete peace of mind.

A comprehensive experience to understand the history, culture, and transformation of a neighborhood that went from being one of the most dangerous in the world to becoming an icon of Medellín, while you enjoy authentic and unique elements throughout this tour.
