Step into the world of Filipino footwear craftsmanship with a hands-on workshop where you’ll learn how to create your own pair of simple, comfortable slide slippers.

This practical experience introduces you to the basics of footwear development and small-scale slipper production. With guidance from local craftsmen, learn how to measure and cut slipper soles, design and attach straps, use basic shoemaking tools, and apply proper gluing and finishing techniques to create a durable, wearable pair.

You’ll also discover how traditional craftsmanship can be combined with practical production methods. Learn about:

    Basic footwear design principles
Selecting materials such as rubber, EVA, straps, and adhesives
    Measuring, cutting, assembly, and finishing
    Basic costing and pricing
    Small-scale slipper production
Quality control and proper finishing techniques
Create It. Wear It. Take It Home.

At the end of the workshop, you’ll have your very own handmade pair of slippers to take home as a unique and practical souvenir of your Philippine experience.

    Discover Marikina’s Shoe Heritage

Continue your experience with a visit to the Marikina Shoe Museum, where you can learn about the city’s long-standing connection to the Philippine footwear industry.

The museum is home to a remarkable collection of shoes associated with former First Lady Imelda Marcos, showcasing the history and cultural fascination surrounding Philippine footwear.

You’ll also see the world-famous giant pair of shoes, measuring approximately 5.29 meters long, 2.37 meters wide, and 1.83 meters high. The landmark was recognized by Guinness World Records in December 2002 as the largest pair of shoes in the world.

Following restoration, the giant shoes returned to public display at Marikina City Hall in June 2026.

From learning the craft with your own hands to discovering Marikina’s fascinating shoe heritage, this experience offers a unique way to walk into Filipino culture, creativity, and craftsmanship.

Create your own pair. Discover the story behind the shoes. Take home a piece of Marikina. ✨
