Kampong Ayer - Venice of East

The historical Kampong Ayer is regarded as the largest Water Village settlement in the world. The centuries-old Kampong Ayer is dubbed as "Venice of the East" by Venetian Antonio Pigafetta who sail to Brunei with Ferdinand Magellan's flagship "Victoria" in 1521. Located at the calm and peaceful Luba Island, is the mausoleum of Sultan Husain Kamaluddin, Brunei's 16th Sultan. The only Sultan to have ruled twice and abdicate twice. Ruled from 1710 to 1730 and took over the throne again in 1737-1740.
