Leaving the south coast behind, we’ll cross the island to discover the lush, green north coast, a different side of Madeira. Discover the picturesque town of Porto da Cruz, nestled amidst vineyards and sugarcane fields on the north coast. Stroll along the promenade, visit the traditional Engenho de Santa Cruz (a steam-powered sugarcane mill—a unique testament to Madeira’s industrial past), and learn about the fascinating history of sugarcane production on the island.
