Experience the stage play “Buddha's Light,” a signature performance of the Luang Prabang International Theatre. This show is a significant showcase of Laotian and Buddhist culture, drawing inspiration from Buddhist classics, Laotian folklore, and intangible cultural heritage.

Enjoy a performance that seamlessly blends dance, music, drama, and lighting and imagery to vividly recreate the Buddha's wisdom and compassion, as well as the enlightenment and growth of sentient beings in samsara.

Luang Prabang has been known as the “City of Buddha” since ancient times, with Buddhism deeply rooted in the lives of its people. It is also a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage and World Natural Heritage site, earning it the title of “Dual Heritage City.”

The Buddha's light symbolizes wisdom, compassion, and purification, implying the dispelling of darkness and illuminating the soul. Through recounting stories from the Buddha's arrival on earth and his teachings, as well as from mythological legends, the stage play “Buddha's Light” allows audiences to deeply connect with the Buddhist concepts of compassion and karma and reincarnation.

While appreciating the beauty of the art, gain spiritual enlightenment and spiritual purification. “Buddha's Light” tells the story of heaven, earth, and all living things: from the falling of a lotus flower and the emergence of a sacred tree to the Buddha's arrival and salvation.

The plot depicts the causal relationship between good and evil in the human world, the confusion and awakening of sentient beings, and the Buddha's compassion and wisdom in guiding humanity toward enlightenment. Every scene on stage symbolizes the pervasive power of Buddha's light and the spiritual power of wisdom and compassion.
