Day 1: Luang Prabang to Pakbeng 07:20–07:30 AM: Hotel pickup in Luang Prabang for an early start. 08:00–08:30 AM: Depart from Bandon Pier. Along the way, enjoy views of water buffalo, jungle scenery, peanut fields, and daily life along the Lao riverbank. 05:00 PM: Arrive in Pakbeng. Overnight in Pakbeng: Accommodation is not included. Please take all of your belongings with you when leaving the boat. Day 2: Pakbeng to Huay Xai 08:30–09:00 AM: Depart from Pakbeng and continue by slow boat toward Huay Xai. 06:00 PM: Arrive at Huay Xai Slow Boat Pier. End of Service and Onward Travel Options The standard service ends at Huay Xai Slow Boat Pier. If you would like assistance continuing toward the border or Chiang Rai, select one of the available product options when booking. Huay Xai Slow Boat Pier to Laos Immigration From Huay Xai Slow Boat Pier, the journey to the Laos Immigration Checkpoint takes approximately 20 minutes. Alternatively, select the Boat + Tuk-Tuk to Laos Border option when booking. This option includes a private tuk-tuk from Huay Xai Slow Boat Pier to the Laos Immigration Checkpoint for up to 8 passengers. The private tuk-tuk service ends at the Laos Immigration Checkpoint. Immigration procedures and the Friendship Bridge shuttle bus are not included. After completing Laos immigration, take the shuttle bus across the 4th Thai-Lao Friendship Bridge and complete Thai immigration at the Chiang Khong Immigration Checkpoint. After Thai Immigration After completing Thai immigration, you can either stay in Chiang Khong or continue to Chiang Rai. Stay in Chiang Khong If you choose to stay in Chiang Khong, you can arrange local transportation from the border to Chiang Khong town on your own. Local shared and private transportation is usually available at the border. Continue to Chiang Rai For a more convenient onward journey, select the Boat + Tuk-Tuk + Chiang Rai Transfer option when booking.
