Discover the heart of Kentucky’s artistry at the Speed Art Museum, the state’s oldest, largest, and most iconic art destination. The Speed’s vast permanent collection spans 6,000 years of human expression and includes the world’s most extensive collection of works by Kentucky artists, with meaningful tributes to Kentucky legends past and present, and art that celebrates the state’s signature passions including horses, bourbon, and bold vision.
From Rembrandt and Monet masterpieces to acclaimed contemporary works—such as Amy Sherald’s unforgettable portrait of Breonna Taylor, a highlight regularly on view at the Speed—your general admission ticket allows you to explore, connect, and see the world in a new way. Families love the hands-on Art Sparks gallery; film lovers flock to Speed Cinema for independent and international screenings; and art-seekers of all kinds find moments of wonder and inspiration.
Located on the University of Louisville’s main campus, your Speed is vibrant, inclusive, and open to all—with a new, free, three-acre, sculpture-filled Art Park that’s open daily from dawn to dusk. Whether you’re here for a weekend getaway, a family adventure, or a deeper taste of Kentucky culture, the Speed brings art, history, and the spirit of the Commonwealth together in one energizing, can’t-miss destination.
