What you can expect
Shoreditch wasn't always cool. It was working class, immigrant, and overlooked, and that history is exactly what makes it so fascinating today.
Your guide Aaron is a professional actor who has been leading tours in Shoreditch since 2015. Guests describe his tours as performances as much as tours - theatrical, funny, and packed with knowledge of both the history and the art of the neighbourhood. The tour suits all ages, and three hours rarely feels like three hours.
This walk starts at the Goat Statue outside Spitalfields Market and takes you through one of London's most layered neighbourhoods. Your guide Aaron is a professional actor who has been leading tours in Shoreditch since 2015. He knows these streets and their stories intimately.
Along the way you'll trace the area's journey through the waves of immigration that shaped it: the French Huguenots who built their wealth in Fournier Street, the Jewish community whose presence is still felt on Brick Lane, and the Bangladeshi and Pakistani communities whose arrival transformed the East End.
You'll learn how a sewer ditch became Shoreditch, how the Great Fire and the German Blitz each left their mark, and how to spot a 17th century building by looking at its windows.
You'll also explore one of the world's great open-air art galleries - the streets of Shoreditch - stopping to discuss the work of major artists including ROA, Martin Ron, and Zabou, and debating the difference between street art and graffiti.
And you'll eat and drink your way through it. The tour includes four tastings: fish & chips from the legendary Poppies, hot chocolate from Dark Sugars, a salmon and cream cheese bagel from Beigel Shop on Brick Lane, and a beer at the Owl and Pussycat - where Aaron rounds off the tour with a story about the British and their relationship with alcohol.
Maximum 10 guests. This is an intimate experience, not a crowd
