Journey to Saleh Bay

Travel by road to Kayangan Harbour then take a public ferry to Poto Tano Harbour, Sumbawa The ferry crossing takes about 1.5–2 hours. Continue by road to Labuan Jambu the starting point for the whale shark trip.

The full journey takes approximately 8–10 hours or longer Delays may occur due to ferry queues, traffic, weather, road conditions, or ferry operations. Ferry schedules are controlled by the ferry operator.

Arrival in Labuan Jambu is usually around 8:00 PM followed by hotel check-in and rest.

⚠️ IMPORTANT – ACCOMMODATION

Labuan Jambu is a remote coastal area with very limited hotel options. Guests cannot choose a specific hotel and must stay at the accommodation arranged by the operator.

The accommodation is a basic local hotel, not a luxury property selected according to availability and location. Every room has air conditioning (AC). Hotel changes after arrival are not possible because accommodation choices in the area are very limited.

The hotel is provided mainly for resting before the early morning whale shark trip.
Whale Shark Adventure

At around 4:00 AM, you will be awakened and taken to the harbor to board a traditional wooden Begog boat toward the local fishing platforms (bagang).

The boat ride usually takes about 1 hour or longer, depending on the whale shark location and sea conditions. Snorkeling generally starts around 7:00 AM, but the timing may change depending on sea conditions and whale shark activity.

After snorkeling, enjoy a simple breakfast on the boat with coffee, tea, bread, and fruit.
Wildlife Conditions

Whale sharks are wild animals living freely in the ocean. We do not feed the whale sharksand cannot control their location or behavior. Fishing activity around the bagang may naturally attract fish and plankton, which can also attract whale sharks.

Whale sharks may arrive, move away, stay far from the boat, appear briefly, or not be seen at all.

Based on our experience, the estimated chance of seeing whale sharks is 80–90%, but this is not guaranteed.

If whale sharks are not found, the tour will continue as planned and NO REFUND OR COMPENSATION WILL BE PROVIDED, as wildlife sightings depend on natural conditions beyond our control.

By booking, guests confirm that they have read, understood, and accepted all tour conditions, including possible delays, longer travel times, schedule or itinerary changes, basic local accommodation, and the possibility of not seeing whale sharks.
