This snack tour through Lisbon's historic center combines a classic city tour and filling, local snacks – the perfect mix for lunch time in Lisbon!
Your city guide will take you through the three historic districts in about 2.5 hours in German. In a small group of a maximum of 12 people, you will explore the winding streets of the oldest district, Alfama, as well as the highlights of the lower city and the poets' district, Chiado.
The city guide's stories focus on anecdotes, culture, and the most exciting events in Portuguese history.
The price of the culinary city tour includes 4 snacks for each participant (2 savory, 1 sweet, 1 liquid). The snacks are chosen so that the amount of food replaces your lunch. So feel free to show up hungry for the tour!
After meeting your city guide at the meeting point in the lower part of Alfama, you will explore the winding alleys of the oldest district together and make a stop right at the beginning of the tour to enjoy the famous “Bifana” lunch snack.
After climbing through narrow streets, you will reach an unknown vantage point overlooking the Tagus River and marvel at the oldest part of Lisbon from above.
Afterward, you will head to the impressive and spacious Lower Town of Lisbon (Baixa). Here you will taste savory pastries and the traditional sour cherry liqueur (Ginjinha).
On the walking tour through the lower city, highlights such as Praça do Comércio, the large square on the Tagus River, and the Elevador de Santa Justa elevator await you – accompanied by fascinating stories about history and culture from your city guide in German.
Then your city guide will take you to the ruins of the Carmo Convent, which was the scene of two momentous events – the earthquake of 1755 and the end of the dictatorship in 1974.
To finish, you will taste a sweet pastry and can choose between a delicious, fresh “Pastel de Nata” or a lesser-known pastry.
After the culinary city tour, you can set off on your own to explore further from the Chiado district. The neighborhood is the perfect starting point for cafes, shopping, and sightseeing.
