What you can expect

Begin your experience in Leticia, located in the heart of the Colombian Amazon, one of the most biodiverse regions on Earth. After a short transfer to a carefully selected terra firme and várzea transition forest, enter a low-disturbance trail system ideal for detecting both canopy and understory species.

During the morning session, your specialized birding guide will focus on identifying mixed-species flocks, a key feature of Amazonian bird ecology. Expect opportunities to observe ant-following birds such as antbirds (Thamnophilidae), as well as woodcreepers, manakins, and potentially elusive species like tinamous or trogons. Interpretation will include vocalization recognition, microhabitat differentiation, and behavioral ecology insights.

Around midday, visit a local indigenous community where a traditional Amazonian lunch is served. This moment also provides a unique opportunity to understand the relationship between local cultures and avifauna, including traditional ecological knowledge and conservation practices.

In the afternoon, continue birding in secondary forest edges and riverine habitats, targeting species adapted to disturbed environments and aquatic systems, such as kingfishers, herons, and parrots in flight. The day concludes around 4:00 PM, with return to Leticia.
