The hike will start just below Vernazza station, in front of the Azienda Agricola La Bottega shop. From there, we will visit the old village (with its small square overlooking the sea and the distinctive Church of Santa Margherita D'Antiochia), and then we will set off along the Verde Azzurro trail in the direction of Monterosso, following the ancient pedestrian path connecting the two villages. The route will wind through the characteristic terraced landscape of the Cinque Terre, where the work of man over about a thousand years has profoundly modified the steep slopes of the hills overlooking the sea in order to obtain small horizontal strips of land (the terraces or cian in the local language) supported by thousands of kilometers of dry stone walls. For centuries, the terraces have mainly been used to cultivate vines for the production of prestigious wines such as Cinque Terre and Sciacchetrà, both DOC wines. Along the route, we will also be able to enjoy beautiful views, particularly towards the towns of Vernazza and Monterosso and across the entire Cinque Terre coast. In about 20 to 30 minutes, we will arrive at the beautiful lemon grove of the Azienda Agricola La Bottega, in the locality of Mavà, from where the view of the village of Vernazza is sublime. There, we will have our food tasting of limoncino (made with the lemons that surround us) and focaccia, and for those who wish, also our liqueurs made with ingredients from the farm's land, which was reclaimed from abandonment, and a typical white wine from the Cinque Terre. For children, local “zero food miles” juices will be offered instead.
