Overview

Visit 5 Major Spots in One Day! A Relaxed Biei Tour Starting Stress-Free!

This tour departs from Sapporo at 10:30 AM. This allows you to enjoy a hearty hotel breakfast and start your day with ease. As the journey to Biei is long, we first stop at Sunagawa Service Area to take a break and arrive at Biei Station for lunch around 2:00 PM.

After lunch, we set off to enjoy the vast snowy landscapes of Biei. We visit 'Mild Seven Hill,' known for its endless snowfields, followed by the iconic 'Christmas Tree,' the sight of a single tree standing alone in the vast white snow creates a serene and exotic atmosphere.

Next, we head to 'Shirahige Waterfall' with the harmony of white snow and blue water. Then, we move to the 'Blue Pond.' We watch the Blue Pond illumination, which is hard to see on other tours that start early. Finally, the tour heads to the 'Ceramic Tree (Shirogane Birke)' with lights wrapping around the giant tree shine brightly from afar.

Activity itinerary

Sunagawa Service Area (Northbound)
  • 15m
A convenient rest stop offering rest & snack time.
Biei Station
  • 1h
Surrounding the station are small local restaurants, cafés, convenience stores, and souvenir shops, making it a convenient place for lunch and rest. Arriving after peak hours allows guests to dine comfortably without long queues, choosing freely from guide-recommended local eateries.
Mild Seven Hill
  • 15m
Mild Seven Hill is a gently rolling landscape located in Biei, once used in a famous Japanese cigarette commercial. In winter, the farmland is covered in pure white snow, creating wide open views with minimal visual distractions. Its soft slopes and simple composition make it one of the most photographed winter scenery spots in Biei.
Christmas tree
  • 20m
The Christmas Tree is a single spruce tree standing alone in an open field near Mild Seven Hill. During winter, the surrounding snow-covered farmland highlights the tree’s silhouette, creating a calm and minimalist landscape. It is especially popular for photography due to its seasonal appearance resembling a Christmas tree.
Shirahige Waterfall
  • 25m
Shirahige Waterfall is located in the Shirogane Onsen area and flows directly from underground springs into the Biei River. Unlike typical waterfalls, the water seeps through rocks, forming thin white streams against blue-tinted water. In winter, snow and ice contrast with the flowing water, and evening lighting adds a soft glow to the scenery.
Shirogane Blue Pond
  • 30m
The Blue Pond was originally created as part of erosion control work near Mount Tokachi. Its distinctive color comes from natural minerals in the water reflecting light. In winter, the pond surface is frozen and covered with snow, but seasonal illumination allows visitors to experience a different atmosphere after sunset.
Roadside station Biei Shirogane Biruke
  • 20m
The Ceramic Tree, also known as Shirogane Birke, is a large artificial structure resembling a tree, located near the Blue Pond area. It was designed as a landscape art installation and is illuminated during winter evenings. The lighting highlights its unique surface and structure, making it visible from a distance in the snowy landscape.
