Join us for an early morning ride up to the top of the ridge, followed by an optional 30 minute hike to the newest lookout Chuwi Kortel. You will have a spectacular view of the sunrise. Be picked up at the Santa Cruz boat dock at 5:00 AM, and return to the same location around 7:00 AM.

The ride is up a steep, rough, dirt road. Starting in Santa Cruz la Laguna, and stops 2000 ft. / 600 meters above Lake Atitlan. You will have views of 6 volcanos, including the active Fuego volcano. It is common to view ash pillowing into the sky from the Fuego volcano.

Enjoy a complimentary cup of coffee as you watch the sunrise. This experience can be done with or with out the hike. Without the hike it is rated “easy, and exciting”, as no hiking is required. Be transported in the back of a pickup truck with side bars. This type of transport is common in Guatemala as a form of local transportation.

Hold on to the side bars of the truck while it is driving up and down the dirt road. This is a great alternative to the famous Indian Nose sunrise, but involves less logistics and costs if you are staying in Santa Cruz.
