What you can expect
We'll start the tour at the iconic Witches' Market, in the heart of La Paz. There, guests can stroll among colorful souvenir stalls, take photos, and learn about the ancient traditions of Andean culture.
We'll also visit the shop of a renowned 'chiflera', a wise Andean woman specialized in rituals, who will prepare a 'mesa' for us ā a traditional offering used in ceremonies of thanksgiving to Pachamama, which means Mother Earth.
After the walk, we'll go to our house for an authentic 'Apthapi' dinner: a typical community meal from the Andes. This feast includes a variety of native potatoes, chuƱo, charque (dried meat), corn, cheese, and hot sauce.
After dinner, we'll meet in the courtyard to prepare the 'mesa' with all the necessary ritual elements (sugar, cinnamon, honey, etc.). Then, we'll place the 'mesa' on the firewood that has been set up beforehand to make the offering to the Pachamama, and we'll light it on fire.
In an intimate and respectful atmosphere, next to the warmth of the fire, we will drink 'tƩ con tƩ', a local hot drink ideal for the cold nights of La Paz. By the fire, we will give thanks for all that we have and also ask for blessings and good fortune for each of the participants in the ritual until the fire turns the offering into ashes.
We will finish with a smudging ceremony using special incense for the occasion. After the ritual ends, guests can return to their respective hotels.
