This approximately 3-hour hiking tour (medium to high difficulty) starts at Llano del Jable and ends at Las Manchas. Accompanied at all times by licensed guides, we will follow the trail that was created specifically to reach the viewing point overlooking the crater of the new Tajogaite Volcano.
Until now, we could only admire this natural phenomenon from a distance of about 300 meters (1,000 feet). Now, thanks to this new 360° tour, which opens three years after the eruption on the island, we will hike over ash and lapilli from the northern part of the volcano to the southern part.
We will enjoy unique views as we progress along the trail, witness the changes that have occurred in the area around the volcano, and get closer to the crater. A breathtaking sight that is sure to impress.
Along the way, we will see various monitoring and measuring instruments that are still used today to study the eruption process. We will be amazed to see fig and chestnut trees regrowing on the volcano's edges and to witness how the Canary Island pine, once again, triumphs over catastrophe.
At the end of the tour, we will reach Las Manchas, the birthplace of the volcano and one of the areas most affected by the eruption in September 2021.
