Perkara yang anda boleh jangka

Enjoy a traditional Japanese tea ceremony. Let's meet near Nijo Castle in Nakagyo Ward, Kyoto.

The tea ceremony was brought from China by Buddhist monks. Today, it is very popular even among young people in Japan. The Japanese tea ceremony was established by Sen no Rikyu. The tea ceremony is a ritual that explores the principles of hospitality, simplicity, and harmony in the imperfection of Zen Buddhism. However, this is just a part of a longer ritual called “Chaji.” Even for Japanese people, sitting on the tatami mat in a traditional tea room is difficult. We provide Japanese-style cushions and you can participate in casual attire. Please bring your socks. If you come barefoot, we also sell new socks. By tasting tea and watching the tea ceremony, you can feel peaceful and healed.

Let's prepare for the ceremony while admiring a hanging scroll. You can admire precious hanging scrolls written about 400 years ago in the Edo period. We will introduce you to the culture and history you want to know.

As you enter the Japanese-style local house, your tea teacher from Kyoto will guide you through the steps of the ceremony.

Feel the elegance of the tea ceremony as hot water is slowly poured into the green tea powder. Slowly sip the matcha. Taste adorable Japanese sweets representing the four seasons. Your teacher is also a teacher of ikebana. Admire the traditional flower arrangements. Take part in a meaningful ritual while learning about the significance of each step. If you have any questions, your teacher will answer all of them.
