Overview

Our journey begins at the symbol of Nara tourism, Nara Park, famous for the unique scenery of “deer and cherry blossoms in harmony”. Soak in the spring vibes amidst the serene atmosphere of Kasuga Taisha, Todai-ji Temple and Mount Wakakusa located right next to the park.

Next, we visit Matabee Sakura (Hongo no Takizakura), with overwhelming sight of this 300-year-old giant weeping cherry tree cascading over a stone wall like a waterfall.

The next stop, Tsubosaka-dera, has unique scenery of cherry blossoms surround the temple grounds, framing the giant Buddha statue and creating striking photo opportunities throughout the site.

The journey concludes at Takada Senbonzakura, where around 1,000 cherry trees form an endless riverside tunnel. Walking beneath falling petals offers a romantic and unforgettable finale to the day.

Nara Park

Nara Park is the symbol of Nara tourism and one of the city’s most famous attractions. Wide open lawns, seasonal cherry blossoms, and freely roaming deer create a unique spring landscape found only in Nara. The park also serves as the setting for nearby historic sites such as Kasuga Taisha and Todai-ji Temple.

Kasuga Shrine

Kasuga Taisha is one of Nara’s most important Shinto shrines, known for its peaceful forest setting and lantern-lined paths. During spring, cherry blossoms add soft color to the sacred atmosphere.

Todai-ji Temple

Todai-ji Temple is home to the Great Buddha (Daibutsu), one of Japan’s most iconic Buddhist statues. The massive wooden hall and surrounding grounds highlight Nara’s historical importance as an ancient capital. Entry to the Great Buddha Hall is optional and needs extra fee.
