You will learn how two of the region's most powerful institutions coexisted and flourished side by side for centuries: the wealthy Cistercian monastery in Sedlec and the nearby Italian Court (Vlašský dvůr), which King Wenceslaus II transformed into the central royal mint and which became a favorite temporary residence of several Czech kings.

Visit the impressive Saint Barbara's Church to marvel at the Gothic details of this magnificent cathedral-style building. See a unique stone fountain from the 15th century, and go to the amazing Sedlec Ossuary, fascinatingly decorated with the skeletal remains of 40,000 to 70,000 people.
