What you can expect

Our journey begins in the morning with a comfortable bus ride towards Gjirokastra, the UNESCO World Heritage town in southern Albania, also known as the “City of a Thousand Steps”. Famous for its unique Ottoman architecture, Gjirokastra is home to hundreds of traditional stone houses featuring beautiful wooden balconies, white stone walls, and distinctive stone roofs.

The highlight of the visit is the impressive Gjirokastra Castle, one of Albania’s most remarkable historical landmarks. While the exact date of its first construction remains uncertain, archaeological evidence shows that the area has been inhabited since the 4th–5th century. Inside the fortress, you will discover fascinating sights including the Artillery Gallery, Gjirokastra Museum, the American airplane, the Festival Stage, the Clock Tower, and spectacular panoramic views over the city and the Drino River valley.

During your free time in Gjirokastra, you will also explore the famous Bazaar, visit the Ethnographic Museum, and discover the traditional Skenduli House, offering a closer look into the history and lifestyle of the region.

Visit the Blue Eye Spring

The adventure continues with a visit to the magical Blue Eye spring, located along the Saranda–Gjirokastra road. Surrounded by a peaceful natural landscape, crystal-clear waters, and rich flora and fauna, this unique natural wonder is home to river trout and various wildlife species.

At the end of the day, you will return with unforgettable memories of Albania’s history, culture, and breathtaking natural beauty.
