This tour begins in the heart of Kruševo, a quiet village in the Dalmatian hinterland where the past is never far from sight. From the moment we arrive, the ancient hilltop settlement of Clambetae (Cvijina gradina) watches over us - a Liburnian-Roman site with a story worth knowing, one that connects this unassuming hillside to some of the most remarkable archaeological finds in the entire region. Even though we do not climb to it, its presence shapes the entire walk.
We will visit the old Church of St. George and the new parish church, learning how faith and community have anchored this place through centuries of change. Along the way, we will explore what life looked like here - how people built, farmed, and survived in the Dalmatian hinterland long before the modern world arrived.
Our path then leads us on a hike to the water spring of Osojnica, where shepherds have watered their livestock for generations. Today, the spring feels like a place out of time - ancient wells still in use, wooden seats, open views, and sculptures honouring a very hardworking animal. On the way there or back, the landscape has a way of surprising you - domestic animals roam freely, and an encounter along the path is all but guaranteed. We will also take time to discover the wild plants growing underfoot - medicinal herbs, aromatic species, and edible varieties that have sustained people in this region for centuries.
All in all, this is not your ordinary tour. The tour might end at the starting point, but by then you'll be a completely different person.
5% of every tour profit is donated to humanitarian aid through the Red Cross of Obrovac. By joining the tour, you are not just a visitor, but a contributor to the local community.
