What you can expect

    This 90-minute walking tour begins at Monkey Republic Hostel and winds through the heart of old Kampot. Starting at the lotus pond, you'll learn about the shrines and spirit houses that line the streets, and how Buddhism, Hinduism and animism blend together in everyday Cambodian life. You'll hear the local myths and legends that still influence how people live today.

    From there the tour follows the river as the sun sets over Bokor Mountain, where you'll learn how the French colonial period shaped Kampot, the resistance it met, and the legacy it left behind in the streets and buildings around you. The walk finishes through the old town as dusk falls.
