Tazawa Lake (Sambil lalu)
Chosen as one of Japan's 100 scenic landscapes, Lake Tazawa is the country's deepest lake with a depth of 423.4 meters. A famous spot at Lake Tazawa is the Statue of Tatsuko, a gold-colored statue of a woman. It was built from the legend a long time ago about a girl named Tatsuko who wished for her beauty to last forever, but before she knew it she turned into a dragon and threw herself into Lake Tazawa.
Gozanoishi Shrine (Sambil lalu)
This shrine by the shore of Lake Tazawa is dedicated to the guardian of the lake, Tatsuko-hime. The vermilion torii gate harmonizes beautifully with the lake's blue surface.
Aoyagi Samurai Manor Museum

Standing on vast grounds approximately 10,000 square meters, the Aoyagi Samurai Manor Museum features 6 galleries in addition to the Main House. There are swords and other items on display. The tour takes customers on an exclusive special viewing of the Main House, which has been closed to the public.

Enjoy strolling along the streets of Kakunodate, samurai residences. Called the Little Kyoto of Michinoku, Kakunodate is a castle town that flourished in the Edo period [1603-1868]. Many structures including samurai residences remain to this day, and the main street lined with samurai residences has been designated as an Important Traditional Building Preservation District. Free lunch time is included. Meals are not included. Customers are to pay for required charges themselves.
