Sombari Baba: Kakrighat served as the summer retreat for the revered saint Sombari Baba. His ashram, which houses the well-preserved remains of his old hut, is a central part of the site. Sombari Baba was known for his profound teachings and miracles. Neem Karoli Baba: The ashram is currently managed by the Kainchi Dham Ashram of Neem Karoli Baba (Maharajji). Neem Karoli Baba also lived and meditated at Kakrighat and later established a Hanuman temple here, strengthening its legacy of devotion. Swami Vivekananda: In 1890, Swami Vivekananda meditated under a Pipal tree at Kakrighat during his travels in the Himalayas. It was here that he had a profound realization of the unity between the microcosm (the individual) and the macrocosm (the universe). This experience is considered a pivotal moment in his spiritual journey.
