These shore excursion routes are specially designed for cruise passengers arriving at Kagoshima Port.

We have two recommended routes for you to choose from:

Itinerary A: No Sakurajima Visit (Total Duration: 6 Hours)

1. A professional driver will greet you at the port with a name sign.
2. Proceed to Sengan-en Garden. Admire the beauty of this classic Japanese garden. Duration: 60 minutes.
3. Head to Mount Shiroyama Observation Deck. Stay for 30 minutes – the perfect spot to take stunning photos of Sakurajima.
4. Arrive at Tenmonkan Shopping Street. Enjoy free time for lunch. You’ll find a wide range of options including Surugaya, Yamakataya Department Store, Wagyu Yakiniku restaurants, Don Quijote, and supermarkets. Lunch duration: 90 minutes.
5. Visit Kagoshima Aquarium. Explore for 60 minutes.
6. Return to the port punctually.

Itinerary B: Sakurajima-Inclusive Route

1. A professional driver will greet you at the port with a name sign.
2. Arrive at Sakurajima – 100 minutes of exploration. Home to one of the most active volcanoes in Japan and even the world, it erupts almost daily (mostly small-scale smoke and ash emissions), with occasional larger eruptions. No need to transfer to other vehicles; you can start the island-loop tour directly.
3. Head to Tenmonkan Shopping Street – 70 minutes of free time for lunch. This area is packed with authentic Japanese dining spots serving high-quality Kagoshima black wagyu yakiniku, sushi, sashimi ramen, and more. After lunch, you can go shopping at Surugaya, Yamakataya Department Store, Don Quijote, large supermarkets, and various chain stores – everything you need is right here.
4. Visit Sengan-en Garden – 70 minutes of sightseeing. The garden’s design cleverly incorporates Sakurajima Volcano as a borrowed landscape, with Kagoshima Bay serving as the pond. It perfectly blends the grandeur of nature with the delicacy of a traditional Japanese garden. There’s also a cute Cat Shrine! It’s a must-visit attraction in Kagoshima.
5. Departure and return to the port punctually.
