This tour is all about exploring Street Art & the impact it has had on the Culture and development of this emerging Precinct in the inner City!

We meet at LOCO Mexican restaurant where we provide a brief history of the development of Braamfontein since 1853 to provide context for the rest of the walk!

From there, we walk through the area looking at the different murals, graffiti, sculptures and unique art installations found all over the streets, walk-ways and back alleys of Braamfontein!

As we walk through the streets, we make a few stops at hidden spaces that have influenced the culture in Braamfontein over the years i.e. a cool design store showcasing local street wear brands, a Pan African Book Store, a Graffiti Store and an old bar that has been around since 1898!

Braamfontein has undergone many transformations in its 150+ year history, from a farm, to a middle class suburb and finally to an extention of the Central Business District…

…these days, Braamfontein is undergoing another transformation as it tries to reposition itself into one of the cultural hubs in the City, where creatives, locals, young, old and visitors alike can come to play, learn and experience a fun side to Johannesburg!
