What will we see?
The complex of 16 terraced lakes is actually two intertwining worlds that together form this unique ecosystem:
- Lower Lakes: The heart of the canyon, where nature displays its greatest power. This is where you'll find the monumental Veliki Slap waterfall, breathtaking in its height and energy, and the most iconic footbridges suspended over the water's surface.
- Cruise on Kozjak Lake: This is a unique moment to catch your breath and admire nature from a completely different perspective. A cruise by electric boat across the largest and deepest lake in the Park allows you to fully experience the majesty of the emerald waters and the monumentality of the surrounding rocks.
- Upper Lakes (optional): A cozy and more intimate part of the Park, hidden in the shade of a dense forest and full of smaller, extremely charming cascades. Choosing a route that covers both parts is a real adventure – the entire hike is then about 8.9 km and takes from 4 to 6 hours.
The Flavors of Lika: A Regional Feast
The trip is not only a feast for the eyes, but also for the palate. After the walk, I invite you to relax in one of the local restaurants, famous for its authentic Lika cuisine. The menu includes local specialties prepared according to traditional recipes, such as fresh trout from the crystal-clear waters of the Gacka River, roast lamb, regional cheeses, and homemade baked goods.
