What you can expect

  • Winter is Jackson Hole’s best-kept secret. As snow settles across the valley, wildlife moves down from the high country into the lowlands, making winter one of the best times to see animals in and around Grand Teton. Elk gather on the National Elk Refuge, and bison, moose, coyotes, and bald eagles may be seen along the way.

    The Safari
Your naturalist guide picks you up at your Jackson Hole lodging in a heated expedition vehicle, reads the morning conditions, and adapts the route to where animals are active that day. Some days that means the sweeping views of the Refuge, other days the willow flats and quiet river bends where wildlife shelters from the cold. Your guide brings professional spotting scopes, expert tracking knowledge, and a warm field lunch served in the winter landscape.

    The Soak
After the safari, head to Astoria Hot Springs in the Snake River Canyon. Settle into the mineral-rich pools while steam rises into the cold mountain air, a perfect way to warm up after a morning in the field.

Because the tour is fully private, the day belongs to your group. Wildlife sightings are never guaranteed, but your guide will work every angle to put you in the right place at the right time.
