Begin your tour in Piazza Verdi, the perfect spot to introduce Piombino as a border town, a gateway to Elba, and an ancient fortified center overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea. From here, head to the Porta a Terra area, the historic entrance to the city, where you can learn about the medieval and Renaissance defensive system that protected the village.

Continue towards the center to reach the Church of Mercy, a small but significant stop to understand the religious and civil dimension of the ancient city. From here, climb to the Citadel, a space linked to the history of the Appiani family and the transformation of Piombino from a fortified village to a small noble capital.

Descend towards the Marina canals, where the story changes: from the walled city to the direct relationship with the sea, the port, maritime activities, and Piombino's strategic position in front of the island of Elba.
